Bozeman, Mont. – Saints Cross Country opened their season at the MSU Bobcats Twilight Meet yesterday evening.
Carroll's men and women both placed 3
rd in the race behind NCAA Division I Montana State University and University of Montana. The Saints were competitive with the Griz, scoring 67 points (women) and 69 points (men) to UM's 56 points on each side. MSU's men are ranked in the Top 25 nationally for NCAA Division I
Carroll placed five total runners in the Top 15 individually across the two races.
Reghan Worley (8
th),
Natalie Yocum (12
th), and
Nicole Morgen (15
th) were the highest placers for the women, and
Spencer Swaim (13
th) and
Brycen Gardner (15
th) were top for the men. Freshman
Sydney J Lamb ran a personal record in the race despite the high altitude in Bozeman.
"It was a great atmosphere for us to gain experience and race against a competitive field, and I was proud of how we responded to that," Head Coach
Shannon Flynn said. "We saw some really good pack running on the men's side and overall are taking away lot of positives and lessons that will help us for the rest of the season."
The Saints will be back in action at home on Monday September 12 for the Frontier Conference Preview. The races will take place at Bill Roberts Golf Course starting at 12:30 pm that afternoon.
