BUTTE, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team lost in five sets on the road to Montana Tech tonight in Butte, 3-2.
Carroll opened the match hot, but found themselves in a hole that they were ultimately unable to escape this evening in Butte.
The Saints opened the match with a 25-22 first set win, but would go down in a hurry, with Tech taking both the second and third sets, 25-14, 25-21.Â
This year's Carroll squad is no stranger to five-set matches, and managed to battle back and take the fourth set, 25-19, but their rally would fall short in the deciding fifth set, with Tech winning 15-11.
Elizabeth Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / SO) was a force for the Saints tonight. Heuiser finished the match with 21 kills, 4 blocks and a service ace.
Hannah Schweikert (Columbia Falls, Mont. / SO) continued her strong Sophomore campaign, finishing the match with 54 assists, and
Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / JR) added 40 digs on the back-end for the Saints.
Maureen Jessop led the Orediggers with 14 kills on the night, and Mckenna Kaelber tallied 50 assists.
Carroll will regroup and quickly turn their focus towards a home match with Rocky Mountain College, Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Carroll College PE Center.
