HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Golf teams finished play for the week on Tuesday at the Carroll College Invitational with the Women in Third, and the Men finishing Fourth.

The weather took a complete turn on the Saints and the rest of the Frontier Conference teams, with cold temperatures and overcast skies covering Bill Roberts Golf Course for day two of the Carroll College Invitational.

Although there were several standout individual performances on the day, the conditions affected the field, and the majority of scores went up from a perfect first day.

The Carroll College Women finished in third place with a team score of 650 (+74), just one stroke out of second place, Montana Tech 649 (+73). Rocky Mountain College ran away with the Women's title with a team score of 605 (+29).

Katie Fagg (Missoula, Mont. / SR) capped off a tremendous event with a final round 74, her collegiate low-score, en route to a tie for fourth place individually, 154 (+10) .

"I felt really good about my round today," Said Fagg. "My driver was going where I was looking, I hit some accurate approach shots, and most importantly, when I did miss the green I was able to get up-and-down."

The weather had an adverse affect on the rest of the Carroll Women, as the rest of the starting five all finished with slightly higher scores from round one. Makayla Christiansen (Oakdale, Calif. / JR) posted a 160 (+16) to finish tied for eighth. Isa Tomazeli (Sao Paulo, Brazil / SO) and Stella Claridge (Kalispell, Mont. / FR) posted identical rounds of 83, 85 on both days to finish in a tie for 13.

Claire Wright from Rocky Mountain College took the medalist honors for the Women, posting back-to-back rounds under par, 69, 70.

The Carroll Men finished with a three round team total of 956 (+92) to finish fourth. MSU-Northern edged out the Saints by one stroke for third place, 955 (+91). Montana Tech finished second at 876 (+12), and Rocky Mountain College finished under par as a team at 838 (-26).

The Men were again paced by Leo Werschay (St. Augusta, Minn. / FR) who fired a third round 74 to finish in a tie for seventh place. Jaedon Lieberg (Helena, Mont. / SR) had another solid round for the Saints, shooting a final round 82 to finish tied for 22. Caleb Spangler (Havre, Mont.) finished one stroke behind Lieberg on the weekend. Carroll's Jack Bentson (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) had an impressive week competing as an individual for the Saints. Bentson, who is also on the Men's Soccer team, returned from a road trip in Oregon where he played soccer matches Friday and Saturday. His 82 on Tuesday capped off a long multi-sport weekend.

Rocky Mountain College's Haydn Driver earned medalist honors on the Men's side, finishing with an impressive 206 (-10) on the week.

Carroll's final event of the fall season will take place in Billings on October 3-4, at Peter Yegen Golf Course.
