SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Carroll Women's Basketball season came to an end on Thursday afternoon as they fell 71-67 to Morningside in the NAIA National Tournament round of 16.
Morningside jumped on Carroll early in the ball game, starting out with a 17-8 lead. The Saints battled back to tie the game up at 20-20 to end the first quarter.
Things stayed even throughout the second quarter as the score remain tied 38-38 going into half time.
The third quarter was an eventful one, with the Saints going on a 12-2 run. After Carroll led 50-40, Morningside put together a run of their own. The Mustangs surged to a one-point lead before the final period.
Morningside executed and hit some timely down the stretch as the Mustangs went onto win the game by a final score of 71-67.
Jamie Pickens was the leading scorer for the Saints, posting a game high 24 points on 11 of 13 shooting.
Danielle Wagner added 17 and
Maddie Geritz tallied 10 off the bench.
Kamden Hilborn also totaled an impressive 13 assists.
Taylor Rodenburgh led the way for the Mustangs, coming off of the bench and scoring 23 points.
Carroll wraps up the season with a total record of 27-8 in what was yet another great year for the program.
