Carroll Softball drops two in double-header against Park

GILBERT, Ariz. – The Carroll Softball team was edged out in two tight games by Park University on Saturday afternoon in Gilbert, losing the first game 5-4 in extras and the second 3-2.

After a quiet offensive showing on Friday, the Saints came out swinging in game one of the double-header. Kenna Thomas opened things up in the first inning with an RBI triple that scored Amber Brewer.

Carroll pushed two more across in the opening frame courtesy of a Jessica Nimmo RBI groundout and a Kirsten Norris RBI double.

Park responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first.

In the top of the sixth inning, Carroll found themselves down by one run. Abby Hanley reached on an error that scored Kaitlynn Ayers and the game was tied at 4-4. The tie was broken in the bottom of the eighth inning as Park won the game on a walk-off single.

In the second game, it was Park who jumped on the Saints early scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Score held until the top of the fourth inning when Kirsten Norris hit her second RBI double of the day, this time bringing Amber Brewer across the plate.
