Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 9 Carroll Women Come Up Short to No. 13 Lewis-Clark State, 62-50

LEWISTON, Idaho - The No. 9 Carroll College Women's Basketball team couldn't quite get things rolling, dropping a hard-fought game against No. 13 Lewis-Clark State, 62-50 on Friday evening in Lewiston.

The Fighting Saints' (6-4, 2-0) 2022 portion of their 22-23 schedule has been stuffed full of highly-ranked and quality opponents, and tonight was no exception. Carroll came up short at the hands of No. 13 Lewis Clark State (7-1, 3-0) in a renewal of a former conference rivalry.

The first quarter was played very tightly, with the Warriors taking a 14-12 lead after one period of play. Carroll's Sienna Swannack (Nine Mile Falls, Wash. / GR) and LC State's Hannah Broyles each scored six points for their respective teams in the quarter.

The Warriors gained a little wiggle room in the second quarter, outscoring the Saints 17-12 in the frame to extend their lead to 31-24 heading into the halftime break. Carroll shot just 29.4 percent from the field in the quarter.

Lewis-Clark State would break teh game open in the third quarter, scoring 16 points and limiting the Saints to just seven points. Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / SR) was the only Saint to score in the frame, while the Warriors saw five players score in the quarter.

A late Carroll push in the fourth quarter would narrow the gap, but the Saints would ultimately fall short and the Warriors would walk away with a 62-50 win.

Jamie Pickens again paved the way for the Saints, finishing the night with 14 points and six rebounds. Addi Ekstrom (Bozeman, Mont. / SO) added 12 points, three rebounds, and an assist, and Sienna Swannack finished with nine points and three rebounds.

The Saints would finish the game shooting just 29 percent from the field as a team (20-69).

The Warriors' Ellie Sander led all scorers with 20 points, alongside six rebounds and four steals.

Carroll will regroup in Helena for finals week next week before heading on a cross-country trip to Florida where they will take on Webber International on December 17.
