Carroll Men's Basketball Earns 70-59 Win at Dickinson State

Box Score DICKINSON, N.D. - The No. 16 Carroll College Men's Basketball team earned a 70-59 win over Dickinson State on Sunday afternoon.

Carroll (3-0) capped off a very busy opening 10 days to their 2022-23 season, earning their third win, and first win over an NAIA school on the year. The Saints survived a late rally from Dickinson State (1-3) to head back to Montana with a 70-59 win and a clean record.

The Saints got out to a good start, taking a 16-8 lead midway through the first half, led by Jonny Hillman (Post Falls, Idaho. / SR), who would finish the half with 13 points. Carroll would go on to take a 37-24 lead heading into the break. The Saints heavily out-shot the Blue Hawks, shooting 15-33 from the field in the first half.

With eight minutes left in the second half, Carroll would extend the margin to 16 points, taking a 55-39 lead on a Brayden Koch (Helena, Mont. / FR) basket. Dickinson State would go on a 16-5 run over the next four and a half minutes to narrow the Carroll lead to just 5.

The Saints would make eight free throws in the final minutes to help secure the win, including five from Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif. / SO) who scored seven of his 13 total points in the final three minutes.

Carroll would see four of its starting five finish the game with double-digits in scoring, Hillman (16), Cook (13), Jordan Bryant (12), and Brendan Temple (11).

Jaiden Wright scored 15 points off of the bench for Dickinson State, and Tyce Dahlberg led all players with eight rebounds.

The Saints will return to Helena for some practice time before their next game against Morningside University at the Small College Classic on November 18.
