HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team earned a win in their final regular season match of the 2022 season, beating MSU-Northern in four sets on Saturday afternoon at the PE Center in Helena.
It was a bittersweet day for Carroll (14-12, 6-4). Getting their second win of the week and heading into the Frontier Conference Tournament with some momentum is certainly a high, but facing the reality of a group of Seniors playing their final home game at the Carroll PE Center is never fun.Â
Carroll raced out to a comfortable lead in the first set, and cruised to a 25-16 set win to start the afternoon.
The second set appeared to be much of the same, until MSU-Northern (11-12, 3-7) rattled off a six point rally, stealing the second set from the Saints, 26-24.
The Saints would jump out to an 11-2 lead at the beginning of the third set, again breezing to another 25-16 set win.
In the fourth set the Skylights held a 21-16 lead before Carroll scored nine of the final 11 points to win the set and the match.
Lauren Sehenuk (Inglewood, Calif. / JR) had a terrific day for Carroll, leading the team in blocks (2) and tallying 12 kills alongside Katherine McEuen (Spokane, Wash. / SR) to lead the Saints. Hannah Scheweikert (Columbia Falls, Mont. / SO) finished with a game-high 49 assists, and Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / JR) finished with 30 digs.
MSU-Northern's Macee Murphy finished with a game-high 13 kills for the Skylights.
Carroll has secured the third seed in the upcoming Frontier Conference Tournament, and a full schedule of that event will be released this week.
