HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team is back in action, taking on Montana Western tonight at 7 p.m. in Dillon, Mont.
A scheduled Frontier Conference bye-week gave the Saints a much needed break as the season winds down. Carroll has played nearly every week dating back to mid-august, and enter the back-half of conference play with a record of 10-11 (2-3).Â
Carroll currently sits in fourth-place in the Frontier Conference standings, one spot ahead of tonight's foe, Montana Western (9-12, 1-4). Tonight's match will be an important one as both teams continue to fight for a higher seed in the upcoming postseason tournament.Â
Both the Saints and the Bulldogs have had stretches of dominance at times this season. Carroll's early-season play saw them ranked as high as No. 20 in the NAIA. Montana Western strung together eight consecutive wins at the beginning of September, including wins over three Frontier schools. Both teams have fallen off the pace a bit as of late, and look to regain momentum to finish off the year.
Carroll won the first match-up between the two schools earlier this season, a thrilling 3-2 victory at home on Sept. 23. The Saints have an impressive win-streak over the Bulldogs, winning the last 19 match-ups dating back to 2014.
