HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College football team is set to play their home opener on Saturday afternoon at Nelson Stadium against rival Montana Tech with kick off scheduled for 1 p.m.

This will be the first meeting between the two rivals since November 9, 2019, when the Saints defeated the Orediggers 30-19 at Nelson Stadium. That game was also the last time Carroll hosted a home football game with fans in the stands. That changes this Saturday.

Carroll currently holds a two-game winning streak in the rivalry, dating back to the 2018 season.

The Saints enter the game 0-1 following an opening weekend 26-22 loss at Montana Western last Saturday.

In the loss, Devan Bridgewater completed 23 of his 40 passing attempts for 246 yards through the air and one touchdown. Seven Saints players recorded two or more catches.

Montana Tech is also 0-1 on the year. They opened their season last weekend at home against Eastern Oregon in a game that resulted in a 26-24 Mountaineer victory.

Sophomore running back Blake Counts rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown last week to lead the Oredigger offense.

Saturday's game can be watched on SWX or online on the Fighting Saints Network sponsored by Point S Tire and Auto Service.

The game can be listened to on Rewind 94.9 FM in Helena or online on KCAP.com with coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m.
