Filius Signing

HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College women's basketball head coach Rachelle Sayers announced the Saints' first signing for the class of 2022 on Tuesday as Sadie Filius, a five-foot-six point guard out of Havre, Mont., signed her NAIA National Letter of Intent to join the Carroll family.

"I just fell in love with the team atmosphere, all the coaches, and academics," said Filius on her decision to sign with Carroll. "I felt like it was the right time and the right fit."

Filius, who is headed into her senior year at Havre High School, has already seen more success than most through her first three seasons as a Blue Pony. In 2019 and 2021, Filius helped lead her team to Class A State Championships and totaled 18 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists in the 2021 state championship game. She was also voted first team all-conference and all-state in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

"Sadie is a winner.  She has been a winner in everything that she does.  She just flat out competes and I love that about her," Sayers said of Filius.  "She plays as hard on the offensive end as she does on the defensive end and she will do whatever it takes to help her team be successful.  I can't think of a player or person who is a better fit for Carroll College!  I can't wait to coach her and I'm so excited she will be a Saint for the next 4 years"

Filius will also compete in track and field at Carroll. In her high school career, she has finished as the runner up in the 300-meter hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay at the Class A State Track and Field Meet.

Sadie, daughter of Scott and Kim Filius, is a 4.0 student and a member of the National Honors Society. She will study math with an emphasis in engineering when she arrives to campus in the fall of 2022.
