HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll Volleyball team fell to Montana State-Northern in five sets on Tuesday night at the PE Center in the opening round of the Frontier Conference Playoffs.

Northern jumped out to a strong start as they took the first two sets. Both of the first two sets were very competitive, as they went beyond 25 points. 26-24 was the score of both.

With their backs against the wall, the Saints came storming back. Carroll got on the board, as they won the third set 25-14.

Carroll went on to even the match at two sets a piece, as they won the fourth set by a score of 25-19.Â

In the fifth set, with a spot in the Frontier Conference semi-finals on the line, it was Northern who pulled away. The Skylights squeaked out the fifth set 15-13 after a tight race the whole way.Â

It was a busy night on the back line for
Julia Carr, a freshman from Portland, Ore. Carr finished with an impressive 49 digs.

Rylee Burmester, a senior from Star Valley, Wyo., totaled 18 kills to help lead the attack for the Skylights in a winning effort.Â

The Saints, with this loss, finish their season with a record of 10-9.

The Skylights, now 3-18, will travel to Great Falls on Thursday to face off with top seeded Providence in the semi-final round of the Frontier Conference Playoffs.Â
