Carroll Softball wraps up 2021 season with double-header victory over Providence

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Carroll Softball team finished their season with a double-header sweep over Providence in Great Falls on Friday afternoon. The Saints won the first game 9-2 and the second game 12-9.

To start off game one, Amber Brewer continued to swing the hot bat as she doubled in a run to give Carroll a 1-0 lead. Providence responded with two runs to make it a 2-1 ball game.

Carroll's offense struck again in the top half of the third inning on a Jessica Nimmo RBI double that scored Abby Hanley. From that point on, the Saints ran away with it.

They scored three runs in the fourth inning on an Abby Hanley single as well as a Providence error. Carroll put an exclamation mark on the first game in the top of the sixth, scoring two runs via an Abby Hanley RBI double and a Sarah Conway RBI single.

They would win it by a final score of 9-2.

The Saints' bats stayed hot in the second game of the afternoon, once again starting off with an Amber Brewer RBI double.

Carroll's offense combined a six-run second inning with a five run fourth inning to take a 12-0 lead.

The Argos fought hard to make things interesting with a six-run frame in the bottom of the fifth to avoid the mercy rule. Carroll went on to win the second game of the day 12-9 to finish their season on a high note.

The Saints finish the year with a record of 15-30 overall and 9-18 in the Cascade Conference. They graduate two seniors in Katie Huisman and Brooke Brewer, but return the rest of their team for the 2022 campaign.
