EAGLE, Idaho -- The Carroll Women's Golf team outlasted Rocky to secure first place at the Frontier Conference Golf Tournament on Wednesday. The Men finished in third place.
Heading into the final round, the Carroll Women had their backs against the wall as they trailed Rocky by just one stroke. They got out on the course on Wednesday, however, and fought until the finish to secure the tournament championship. They won the tournament by two strokes, 1078 to 1080.Â
Wednesday's top scorer for the Saints was
Caroline Hobson, a junior from Hillsboro, Ore., who shot an 83 and finished fifth individually with a combined score of 263.
Katie Fagg, a sophomore from Missoula, Mont., finished fourth as Carroll's top scorer with a combined score of 258.
The Carroll Men finished in third behind Rocky and Montana Tech. Samuel Berry, a senior from Billings, Mont., shot an 80 on Wednesday to move up the leader board into 12th place as Carroll's highest finisher.Â
The Carroll Women's Golf team will now transition their focus on preparation for the NAIA Women's Golf Championships on May 25-28 at Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Mich.
