HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll Softball team won both of their games in a double-header against Bushnell on Saturday. The Saints won the first game 6-5 and the second game 17-2. With the win in the first game, Carroll secured a series victory over the Beacons.Â
The first game was a hard-fought battle the whole way, starting in the first inning. Both teams plated two in their first at-bats to make it a 2-2 game.
In the bottom of the second inning, Carroll took a 3-2 lead on a Sarah Jenkins single.Â
Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the game was tied 5-5 with the Saints coming up to bat.Â
An Amber Brewer solo home-run put Carroll in the lead 6-5, before they eventually slammed the door shut in the top of the sixth.
The second game was an offensive explosion by Carroll. Their bats got hot early on as they scored seven runs in the first and ten runs in the second before going on to win on the mercy rule after five innings.
Kaitlynn Ayers and Amber Brewer each hit home-runs and combined for six RBIs to help propel the Saints to a high-scoring outing.Â
The Saints will be back at it this Wednesday as they travel to Missoula to face off with the University of Montana in a double-header. The games are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. They will follow that up with a weekend series at Oregon Tech.
