Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stapleton's hat trick helps Carroll Women's Soccer earn third straight win

GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The Carroll Women's Soccer team earned their third straight win on Monday with an impressive 4-0 victory over Providence.

Blair Stapleton, a sophomore from Billings, Mont., helped lead the way for the Saints with a hat trick. All three of her goals came in the first half.

It didn't take long for the Saints to get going in this one, as Stapleton found the back of the net in the fourth minute to give Carroll a 1-0 lead.

Fellow sophomore and Billings native Melissa Dugger joined in on the fun in the 22nd minute, scoring a goal to put the Saints up 2-0. Then the torch was passed right back over to Stapleton.

Stapleton scored again in the 25th minute and the 42nd minute to complete her hat trick and put Carroll up 4-0 heading into half time.

The Saints held strong defensively for the rest of the match to secure their 4-0 victory, extending the streak three in a row.

With the win, Carroll is now 4-2-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in conference play. They currently are in third place in the Cascade East Division, right behind College of Idaho, who they will host next weekend.
