HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College Men's Basketball team will be back on the hardwood this weekend at the PE Center to take on the Providence Argos. The games will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Coming into this weekend, the Saints are 13-5 on the year with a 10-4 conference record. They are winners of their last eight games as well as 10 of their last 12. The two losses in that stretch both came at the hands of the Argos on January 9
th and 10
th in Great Falls.
This time around, Coach
Kurt Paulson and his Fighting Saints team have the chance to extend their winning streak on their home floor. Despite the lack of fans in the stands this year, the Saints have still managed to utilize the home court advantage that comes with playing in the PE Center, boasting a home record of 7-0.
As far as Frontier Conference standings go, the Saints are currently in second place, but will have a chance this weekend to shorten the gap on the first place Argos who are 11-1 in conference play.
Jovan Sljivancanin, a junior forward out of Belgrade, Serbia, is currently leading the Saints in scoring at 18.8 points per game with 8.4 rebounds per game to go with. Sljivancanin had another big weekend last week in back-to-back wins versus Montana State Northern averaging 26 points and 9 boards in two games.
On the other hand, Providence has the defending Frontier Conference and NAIA National Player of the Week in Zaccheus Darko-Kelly, a senior forward from Great Falls. Last week, Darko-Kelly averaged 22.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists in three games.
