CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Carroll Women's Basketball team capped off their weekend with a convincing 84-63 win over No. 14 Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints kept the momentum rolling off of a strong fourth quarter on Friday, jumping out to a 21-18 lead at the end of the first quarter. As a team, Carroll shot 10 of 14 from the field in the opening period.
The second quarter was competitive, but Carroll continued to separate themselves and took a nine-point lead into the half time break.
In the second half, the Saints pulled away behind a career day from senior guard
Danielle Wagner. Wagner finished the game with 28 points, which matches her career high, going 11 of 15 from the field and 6 of 10 from three.
Carroll had three other players finish the game in double figures.
Sienna Swannack had 16, while
Jamie Pickens and
Christine Denny each finished the game with ten points.
Sydnie Hall was the top scorer for Lindsey Wilson with 17 points on the day.
After going 2-1 over the weekend, the sixth-ranked Fighting Saints will begin conference play with a record of 9-2. Carroll will open up their Frontier Conference schedule on Thursday at 5 p.m. as they host the Skylights of MSU-Northern.
