BUTTE, Mont. – The Carroll Volleyball team suffered a tough loss on Wednesday night in five sets at Montana Tech.
It was the Saints who got off to a hot start in this one. In a hard-fought opening set, Carroll was able to go up 1-0 winning 25-23 in the first.
The second set ended up being quite similar to the first. It was back and forth the whole way, but once again Carroll came out on top 25-23.
Carroll held a two sets to zero lead, but Montana Tech was not going to go down without a fight. The Orediggers won the third set 25-19 to get the momentum on their side.
Tech went on to win the final two sets in convincing fashion. They won the fourth set 25-14 and the fifth set 15-5 to finish off the comeback.
Carroll was led by 14 kills and seven blocks from
Taelyr Krantz, 21 assists from
Hannah Schweikert, and 18 digs from
Julia Carr.
Maureen Jessop tallied 22 kills and five service aces to lead the Orediggers. McKenna Kaelber added 57 assists and Sarah Hopcroft added 34 digs.
The 11-12 Saints will have a quick turnaround as they host Rocky on Friday night for senior night.
Taelyr Krantz and
Lexi Mikkelsen are the two seniors who will be honored.
