HELENA, Mont. -- The Frontier Conference honored the venerable photographer Grant Hanson with the Distinguished Service Award.

Carroll College President John Cech and Athletic Director Charlie Gross presented the award to Grant and Sandra Hanson on Thursday, February 27 when the Fighting Saints hosted the University of Providence basketball teams.

The Frontier Conference periodically recognizes individuals who have positively impacted the well-being of the conference through their service. Individuals are nominated for this award by members of the Frontier Conference and are voted upon by the Conference Athletic Directors, with approval for the recognition being sent onto the Council of Presidents.

Grant and Sandie Hanson began attending Carroll Football games in 2004 along with Grant's camera. Since 2004, Grant, Sandie, and Grant's Camera have only missed one Carroll Football, home or away.  Not only have Grant, Sandie and Grant's cameras made their way to football games but they have become common fixtures at Fighting Saints events in all sports seasons.  In recent years, in addition to bringing Grant's cameras, they also bring Charlie.

Grant has taken tens of thousands of pictures of Carroll Athletics over the years, recording Saints special moments through his high quality pictures, sharing them with the student athletes, their families, Carroll College, the Frontier Conference, and for the generations to come.

"Grant and Sandie, thank you for being so gracious giving of your time, skills, resources, passion for our student athletes," Saints Director of Athletics Charlie Gross said. "Your pictures have created lasting memories for so many, even outside the Carroll Community."
