HELENA, Mont. --
Danielle Wagner scored on an up-and-under with under a minute to go to give the Fighting Saints a one-point lead, and No. 6-ranked Carroll College held on to take a 65-60 win over Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, on Saturday night.
Wagner, the senior from Havre, Montana, made her way into the paint with 20 seconds remaining, before she up-faked, pivoted and found herself some space to get to her dominant hand and score the go-ahead basket for Carroll (7-0).
On the ensuing possession, the Saints forced a turnover of LSCS, and then Wagner added two more free throws to ice the game.
Sienna Swannack's free throws ensured the Saints won by two possessions.
Wagner finished with a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds, while
Christine Denny added 15 points.
Lewis-Clark State received 17 points from Jansen Edmiston to lead the Warriors.
LCSC held a two-point advantage at halftime, but the Saints outscored the Warriors in the third and fourth quarters to remain undefeated this season.
It was the Saints' second win of the season over the Warriors (3-2), albeit in a much closer contest. The Saints blew the Warriors out in the PE Center on November 28, winning 99-48.
Carroll will look to take a third game from the Warriors this season, as CC and LCSC square off once more on Sunday at 3 p.m.
