HELENA, Mont. -- The No. 17-ranked Carroll College Fighting Saints women's basketball team fell 42-36 to No. 24 Rocky Mountain College on Wednesday in Billings, Montana.
The Saints (14-7, 6-3 Frontier Conference) earned their fair share of shots but connected on only 25% of their field goals. Carroll took 59 attempts, compared to 43 by the Battlin' Bears (14-6, 5-4), but made just 15.
The Saints shot only 14% from deep, to make matters tougher.
Christine Denny scored a game-high 17 points, but she was the lone Saint to crack double figures.
Rocky had a team-high 14 points from Markaela Francis.
A three by
Kamden Hilborn brought the Saints within three, 42-39, with 2:09 left in the game, but the Saints would come away empty-handed on their next three shot attempts.
It's just the third time the Saints have lost on the road this season. The loss evens the Saints' record against the Battlin' Bears at 1-1.
The Saints will close their week out at home against No. 22 Montana Western on Friday in the PE Center.
