HELENA, Mont. -- The No. 23-ranked Carroll College Fighting Saints will look to retain their billing as top dog in the Frontier Conference this week as they head to Billings, Montana, to face Rocky Mountain College on Wednesday.
The Fighting Saints (13-3, 4-0 Frontier Conference), fresh off a victory over previously unbeaten and No. 7-ranked Providence, will look to continue their upward trajectory against a battered Battlin' Bears (6-7, 1-3). RMC lost its past two Frontier contests, falling 80-72 to Montana Tech before dropping a game 87-57 to Lewis-Clark State College.
The Saints enter Wednesday's contest having won seven consecutive games and scoring 90 or more points in six of those seven games. In the Saints' only other road conference game this season, Carroll defeated Montana State-Northern 69-58.
Powering the Saints are
Dane Warp and
Jovan Sljivancanin, who both average 19 points per game. Warp was picked as the preseason player of the year, while Sljivancanin has earned five Frontier Conference Player of the Week awards so far this season.
Also averaging double figures for the Saints are freshman guard
Dennis Flowers III (11 ppg) and sophomore guard
Shamrock Campbell (10 ppg).
The Fighting Saints boast a disciplined offense, currently No. 4 in the NAIA in assist/turnover ratio (1.5) and one of the best defenses in the NAIA, ranked No. 6 in scoring defense per game at 64.8.
The Battlin' Bears have five scorers that put up over 10 points per game, led by Darius Hendersons' 13.8 ppg.
The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. in the Fortin Education Center.
