HELENA, Mont. -- The Fighting Saints ended the Spokane road trip with a 1-1 split after losing to Whitman College 3-0 on Friday.
The Saints, who had a great bounce back game yesterday beating Whitworth 2-1, could not pull out the victory today against The Blues of Whitman College.
Both teams were scoreless 31 minutes into the game when Whitman's Sam Johnson scored the first goal for the Blues. The score at halftime was 1-0, which lined up with three shot attempts from Carroll and four shots from Whitman.
The Saints came out of halftime ready to tie it up. Being more aggressive in the second half, the Saints had eight shots but were not able to convert any into goals. They held The Blues scoreless until the 74th minute when Erik Nielsen and Jordan Furukawa both scored goals within a minute of each other, making the score 3-0 and taking away the hopes of a second half comeback for the Saints.
The Fighting Saints now move to 1-2-1 on the season as they head back to Helena. Their next two home games will be against Evergreen and Northwest on September 20 and 22 respectively.
