HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College women's soccer team started the Cascade Collegiate Conference season off with a bang, defeating Evergreen State College 3-0 on Friday at Nelson Stadium.
"It's always nice to open in conference at home," Saints coach Dave Thorvilson said. "We continued our shutout streak of not getting up a goal. Defense is playing well."

Alexa Fries finished a goal in the 44th minute after a deflection to give the Saints (4-1-1, 1-0 CCC) a 1-0 lead before halftime.

Brenna Rohnkohl added another goal after the Geoducks' goalkeeper took a bad touch. Rohnkohl found the ball and finished in the 70th minute.

Brynn Walker added the final goal in the 87th minute.
Sydney Green kept another clean sheet, recording six saves on the day. It's her third consecutive shutout on the season.
Carroll possessed the ball well throughout the game, generating numerous scoring chances. The Saints outshot ESC (2-3, 0-1 CCC) 19-9 on the day.
The Saints take on Northwest (5-2, 1-0 CCC) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
"We played a very good Evergreen team, but we know Sunday's competition is going to be harder," Thorvilson said.
