HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College softball team dropped two games to College of Idaho on Friday in Caldwell, Idaho. 

College of Idaho (30-8 overall, 19-5 Cascade Collegiate Conference) built a 3-0 lead after two innings in the first game and held on. 

The Saints (14-19 , 7-13) tried to manufacture runs, but couldn't find a way to get across the plate. 

Anna ApRoberts, a junior from Beaverton, Oregon, led off the fourth inning with a single. TJ Rucker spelled ApRoberts on the bases and moved to second after a sacrifice bunt by Amber Brewer. With the runner in scoring position, however, the Saints recorded consecutive outs to strand the runner on base. 

ApRoberts would be the only Saint with multiple hits in Game One, going 2-for-3 at the plate. 

Ali Williams, a junior from Kalispell, Montana, recorded the Saints' only other hit in the game. 

Carroll grabbed the lead in Game Two when ApRoberts hit a home run over the center field wall in her first at-bat in the first inning. 

The Saints held on until the third inning, when Bentli Corta hit a home run to tie the game 1-1. 

The game stayed knotted at one until COI broke through with a big fifth inning. COI recorded two quick outs, but Corta reached first after a throwing error after striking out. That gave COI enough room to make something happen. COI would bring in four runs with two outs before the Saints generated a pop out to get out of the inning. 

Carroll made one last go at the Yotes in the seventh inning with Megan McCormick, a junior out of Fallon, Nevada, led off with a single. Brittany Smith reached on a fielder's choice and then Kendall Mooney hit a single. Tianna Sell reached on a fielder's choice. Jessica Nimmo popped out to end the game, 5-1 in favor of COI. 

Carroll and COI close out the three-game conference series tomorrow at 11 a.m. A fourth non-conference game is scheduled to be played at 1 p.m.
