HELENA, Mont. -- The No. 2-seed Lewis-Clark State College Warriors defeated Carroll College in the Frontier Conference postseason championship, 76-60.
The Warriors (27-6) grabbed a lead with 17:51 remaining in the first half and never trailed again.
LCSC's depth and stifling defense caused problems for the banged-up Saints (25-7). Carroll shot just 38 percent from the field and 14 percent from beyond the arc (2-for-14). The Saints' usually efficiency disappeared in the title game.
Seniors
Matt Wyman and
Match Burnham each scored 15 points for the Saints.
Dane Warp added 11 points.
The Warriors received a game-high 22 points from Derrick White, while Damek Mitchell and Dana Abe each added 14.
The Saints had their opportunities. Carroll cut the LCSC lead down to eight twice in the second half, but each time the Warriors responded by creating a three-point play on the other end.
Carroll will learn its tournament seeding on Wednesday, March 13. The Saints will then play in The 82nd Annual Division I Men's Basketball National Championship from March 20-26 in Kansas City, Missouri.
