Carroll claims weekend series over Northwest, 3-1

HELENA, Mont. -- Carroll College split its doubleheader with Northwest on Saturday in Kirkland, Washington.

The Eagles (3-15, 1-8 Cascade Collegiate Conference) took the final game of the three-game conference slate before the Saints captured the final non-conference game of the two team's meeting.

Northwest went up 3-0 in the first game after a pair of home runs.

Carroll managed five hits in the game, but couldn't convert runs across the plate.

The Saints (9-12, 2-7) responded in the non-conference tilt.

Ali Williams hit a RBI double in the first inning to get the Saints going.

Northwest rallied in the bottom of the frame with a RBI single and a RBI walk.

Carroll took the lead again in the fourth inning when Courtney Schroeder blasted a two-run homer, giving the Saints a 3-2 lead.

Northwest knotted the game at three in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single.

Jessia Nimmo belted the game-winning two-RBI single in the sixth inning to secure a series victory for the Saints.

Nimmo and Schroeder both had two hits in the second game to lead the Saints offense.

Tess Eaton (3-3) got the win on the mound, tossing seven innings while allowing three earned runs and walking six while striking out five.

The Saints travel to Klamath Falls next week to face No. 9 Oregon Tech.
