HELENA, Mont. --
Danielle Wagner and
Jaidyn Lyman combined to hit 8-of-11 three pointers and the No. 8 Carroll College Fighting Saints defeated No. 17 Lewis-Clark State 65-44 on Saturday in Lewiston, Idaho.
The win keeps the Saints (18-7, 10-4) firmly in second place in the Frontier Conference.
Carroll's red hot shooting give the Saints their initial margin. Carroll outscored LCSC 22-11 in the second quarter to take a 34-21 at halftime. A large part of that was due to the Saints hitting six threes in the first half.
After taking a double-digit lead with one minute left to go in the first half, the Warriors never could trim the lead by to single figures.
Wagner led all scorers with 18 points and added six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Jaidyn Lyman had 14 points and
Hannah Dean added 11 points, four rebounds, eight assists, two blocks and two steals.
Freshman guard
Sienna Swannack pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds.
The win gives the Saints two impressive road wins over ranked opponents this week. The Saints knocked off No. 3 Montana Western in Dillon on Thursday. It also becomes the first 2-0 week in conference play for the Saints since the beginning of January.
After a four-game road trip where Carroll posted a 3-1 record, the Saints return to the PE Center next week to take on Montana State-Northern and No. 22 Providence.
