HELENA, Mont. -- It's back on the road for the No. 2 Carroll College Fighting Saints men's basketball team this weekend.
The Saints (20-4, 9-3 Frontier Conference) travel to Montana Western (7-16, 1-11) on Thursday before heading down to Lewiston for a Top 20 matchup against No. 18 Lewis-Clark State (18-6, 7-5) on Saturday. Carroll will be looking to snap a two-game losing skid.
"One at a time," Saints coach
Kurt Paulson told Sports 94.9. "Western they have a few very good scorers in Boone and Kidgell. That's going to be our focus. We're not overlooking them at their place."
Carroll will be bolstered by the return of leading scorer
Match Burnham, who missed the Saints' loss against Montana State-Northern after accruing two technicals the previous night. Fellow senior starter
Matt Wyman is out as he nurses a knee injury suffered last week against Providence.
Whatever lineup the Saints trot out against the Bulldogs, they will be looking for a regular season sweep over UMW for the first time since the 2007-08 season (Frontier opponents only played each other twice per season then).
Carroll is the No. 1 team in the NAIA in three-point (44), field goal (54) and free throw percentage (81).
Western is at the bottom of the Frontier Conference standings and holds a nine-game losing streak.
Carroll defeated Western 91-78 in Dillon earlier this season and posted a 101-67 win in Helena. Thursday's game tips off at 7:30 p.m. in Straugh Gymnasium.
The Saints will be looking to complete a sweep over Lewis-Clark State as well. The Warriors team the Saints face this time will be different than the one of just a few weeks ago. LCSC returns leading scorer Dana Abe (14.1 ppg) back to its starting lineup.
Saturday's game against the Warriors tips off at 5 p.m.
