HELENA, Mont. -- No. 2-seed Carroll College hosts No. 3-seed Rocky Mountain College in the semifinals of the Frontier Conference Playoffs on Friday in the PE Center.

The Fighting Saints (23-7) earned their way into the semis after defeating No. 7-seed Montana Tech on Tuesday, 59-50. It was the Saints' eighth consecutive win.

Rocky will be a very familiar foe for the Saints. Carroll defeated Rocky (20-11) 55-43 in the final game of the regular season to secure the No. 2 seed in the playoffs. The Saints went 2-1 against the Battlin' Bears this season, winning one game in Billings and one in Helena. The average margin of victory in the two wins was 10 points.

Rocky defeated Montana State-Northern 72-46 in the quarterfinals.

Carroll met and handled Rocky in the Frontier Conference finals a season ago, winning that game 46-42.

Carroll is led by senior forward Hannah Dean's 15.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.9 steals and one block per game. Dani Wagner and Christine Denny also average nearly 10 points per game.

Rocky will bring a lot of size into the PE Center on Friday. Led by the 5-foot-10 Alecia Chamberlin's 11.9 points per game, Rocky's top four scorers all average about 10 points per game and are all at least 5-foot-10.

So how do the Saints respond? With their shortest player, of course.

Sophomore point guard Jaidyn Lyman is averaging 11.3 points per game against Rocky this season in three meetings. That's about five points above her seasonal average. Her ability to push the tempo and knock down threes has been a bonus against the Battlin' Bears' size.

The winner of Friday's game will take on the winner of No. 1-seed Montana Western and No. 4-seed Lewis-Clark State College. The home team has won every playoff game so far.

Friday's game tips off at 7 p.m.
