HELENA, Mont. -- The No. 8 Carroll College Fighting Saints host Montana State-Northern on Thursday in the PE Center as part of the team's Pink Game sponsored by St. Peter's Health.
It brings the Saints (18-7, 10-4 Frontier Conference) back home after a difficult and prosperous four-game road swing. The Saints went 3-1 on the trip and capped it off by defeating No. 3 Montana Western and No. 17 Lewis-Clark State College.
First, the Saints welcome in Northern (12-14, 4-10), who the Saints have already claimed a 2-0 lead in the season series. Carroll went up to Havre just two weeks ago and defeated the Skylights 72-60.
Northern is trending in the right direction recently. The Skylights put together two wins last week after they defeated Providence and Montana Tech. It was an effort that earned Northern forward Sydney Hovde the Player of the Week.
Peyton Kehr leads the Skylights in scoring at 12.6 points per game.
Carroll continues to build on its stingy defense, which is now ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, allowing 53 points per game. In its most recent win, the Saints held No. 17 LCSC to 44 points.
A senior from Gardner, Montana,
Hannah Dean leads the Saints in most statistical categories. Dean paces the Saints in scoring (14.6), rebounding (7.3), assisting (2.9), stealing (1.9) and blocking (1.1).
A slew of Saints average close to 10 points per game, too.
Christine Denny (9.6), Dani Wagner (8.8) and
Brittney Johnson (7.6) are near the mark and capable of putting up big scoring nights.
On Saturday, the Saints have a chance to win the regular season series against No. 23 Providence. The Argonauts are the best rebounding team in the Frontier Conference, on average out-rebounding opponents by 10.8 boards per game.
The Argonauts are led in scoring by Emilee Maldonado's 17 points per contest.
Thursday's Pink Game tips off at 5:30 p.m. in the PE Center.
Notes: The Saints will wear pink to raise awareness for breast cancer during Thursday's game.
