HELENA, Mont. — Carroll College men's basketball is preparing to take on the Wolves of Walla Walla on Thursday in College Place, Washington.
The Fighting Saints are currently 2-0 after beating Southern Oregon 79-58 and beating Eastern Oregon 89-72 in Butte, Montana. This will be the first counting road game of the season and the Saints will be looking to see more of what their freshmen are capable of as the young team continues to find its stride.
The Saints will be looking for big performances once again out of their top two scorers,
Jovan Sljivancanin (22.5 PPG), and
Dane Warp (20 PPG).
Shamrock Campbell and Warp lead the team in assists with five and six respectively.
"We are looking to build off momentum from wins at the Tech Classic against Walla Walla, another Cascade Conference team," Saints coach
Kurt Paulson said. "We are stressing to this young group to play defense and share the ball."
So far this season, scoring hasn't been an issue for the Saints. Carroll has four players averaging over 10 points so far this season and are also shooting an impressive 46 percent from the three-point line as a team.
The Wolves are 2-2 with both of their losses coming at the hands of Frontier Conference teams: Montana Western (92-63) and Lewis-Clark State (103-62). The Saints' focus will most certainly be on Walla Walla's Dylan Browning who is currently averaging 28.3 PPG. The Wolves' second leading scoring is Kiandre Gaddy averaging 16.8.
The game will be at 7 p.m. in College Place, Washington.
