HELENA, Mont. --
Jaidyn Lyman's three-pointer with two seconds was off the mark and the No. 8 Carroll College Fighting Saints fell to No. 4 Montana Western 58-54 on Saturday night in Dillon.
After Lyman scored a bucket with 14 seconds left, Paige Holmes missed two free throws, giving the Saints a chance to tie the game with 11 seconds left. Lyman took the final shot and just missed.
Carroll grabbed the first lead of the game when
Christine Denny scored in the paint, but after that trailed the rest of the way.
It was the Saints' (13-4, 5-1 Frontier) first conference loss of the season and it broke a four-game winning streak for the Saints.
Two Saints reached double figures, led by
Hannah Dean's 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Brittney Johnson also added 11 points.
Britt Cooper led the Bulldogs with 17 points.
Carroll held the Frontier's leading scorer, Bri King, to 12 points on 5-for-14 shooting.
Carroll is back in action in the PE Center on Tuesday, hosting Montana Tech (11-5, 1-4).
