Carroll College volleyball set to compete in Providence tournament

HELENA -- The Carroll College volleyball team takes to the Electric City this weekend to compete in the Best Western Plus Heritage Inn Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday.

It will be the last non-conference action before the Saints open up league play with University of Montana Western on Sept. 13.

Carroll College takes on Providence Christian College (California) at 1 p.m. on Friday. The Sea Beggers are 1-4 this season. They bring a strong serving game to Montana, currently ranked as the No. 19 team in the NAIA in service aces per game (2.3).

The Saints, meanwhile, are currently No. 1 in total blocks with 108 and No. 9 in the NAIA with 2.5 per game.

Also on Friday, the Saints will face Benedictine University at Mesa. The Redhawks enter the weekend with a 6-4 record. The Redhawks are also in the Top 40 of the NAIA in serving.

Carroll will then match up with Medicine Hat College on Saturday. The Rattlers are a bit of the mystery entering the event with a 0-0 record.

Carroll finishes the weekend with a game against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Arizona). The Eagles could be the stiffest test as they enter with a 10-1 record.

Friday's first contest will be at 1 p.m. in the McLaughlin Center.
