Box Score HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College Saints five-match winning streak came to a close on Saturday at the hands of the No. 6-ranked Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears.
Rocky (13-1, 2-0) defeated Carroll 3-1, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16.
The Saints went toe to toe with the top-ranked Frontier Conference team at moments, but ultimately couldn't find enough to pull through. Rocky's strength at the front of the net changed the game.
"I thought we had good energy and team chemistry,I thought, was really good. As the match went on, they got a couple blocks on us and I think ti changed the confidence level of our players and it changed the energy on the court," Saints head coach Moe Boyle said.
Carroll (12-7, 1-1) attacked well in the first two games, but minor mistakes slowed the Saints in games three and four.
"I think we did a nice job with our offense," Boyle said. "Early on our offense went well and as time went on we kind of tightened up a bit and we tended to set into the blockers and you saw the result of that. At the same time, our hitters have to be able to hit around blocks."
The Saints take on University of Providence on Sept. 21 in Great Falls.
