HELENA, Mont. -- Carroll College's volleyball team makes its final homestand of the season this weekend.
The Saints (17-12, 4-4 Frontier) will host Montana State-Northern (1-20, 0-9) and Providence (18-7) on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Friday night will serve as the Saints' Pink Game presented by St. Peter's. The team will wear pink jerseys to raise awareness of breast cancer.
The Saints host Northern, who hasn't won a match since Sept. 8 against Providence Christian.
"We have to come ready to play tomorrow," Saints coach Moe Boyle said. "We have been trying to improve throughout the season. This is really a season's worth of putting everything together for our last two home games. And giving us a running start into postseason in hopes we can have our end of the season be where we peak."
Carroll has worked toward the upper echelon of the Frontier thanks to its strength at the net. The Saints are No. 9 in the NAIA in total blocks (243.5), a large part of that coming from senior
Brielle Bumgarner, who is No. 10 in the NAIA in total blocks (119).
Saturday the Saints get a chance to take down Providence, which is sitting in second place in the Frontier and knocked the Saints off last month. The game will also serve as the Saints' Senior Night Game, giving fans a chance to honor seniors Bumgarner,
Rayna Pilgeram,
Casey Berry and
Morgan Christy.
"These seniors mean a lot to this team," Boyle said. "I'm sure that will be recognized Saturday night. If we can past the emotions and try to play a clean game, we'll be alright. We lost at Great Falls and we'd like to have a shot at them again -- Senior Night or not."
Each senior will have their moment on Saturday night.
"
Casey Berry, her second week back from returning an ACL tear to finish out her senior year, has been great," Boyle said. We have Rayna who has been a stalwart on the floor; Brielle who has led at the net for three years and Morgan who's been a really vocal leader and a calming force for our team."
Friday night's match begins at 7 p.m. in the PE Center.
