HELENA, Mont. -- Carroll College's men's soccer team lost 3-1 to Evergreen on Saturday.
"We actually played an inspiring match but could not put the ball in the back of the net," Saints coach
Doug Mello said. "Down 2-0 at half totally against the run of play. Auggie Baker has some big saves in goal. Javi (Porras) and Santiago (Morazzani) stood out. We deserved a better fate."
The Saints (6-6-1, 5-5-1) fell behind 2-0 in the first half and could not overcome the deficit.
The Saints got on the board in the 82nd minute when
Leo Georgiades scored off a header from his brother, Paolo.
But, the Geoducks scored once more in the 85th minute.
The Saints outshot Evergreen 17-14, though the Geoducks put more of those shots on goal, 5-4.
The Saints also had more corners, 3-1, than Evergreen but just couldn't convert.
Carroll now sits in the eighth and final playoff slot in the CCC with two games remaining.
