Box Score HELENA, Mont. - The No. 13 Carroll College women's basketball team hosts No. 19 Providence Thursday and MSU-Northern Saturday at the PE Center.
The Fighting Saints are coming off of a frustrating loss against No. 15 Rocky Mountain where Carroll shot 34 percent from the field and 24 percent from the three-point line.
Despite the blemish, the Saints (15-6, 7-3 FC) have played well, sit in a three-way tie for first in the league and earned the highest ranking in NAIA Coaches' Poll among Frontier schools.
Hannah Dean leads the Saints with 11.9 points per game,
Bailey Pasta averages 10.3 PPG and
Michaela Dowdy averages 10.7 PPG in conference games.
Dean leads the Saints in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.
The Saints open the weekend Thursday against one of the two teams that they are tied with for the top spot in the Frontier. Providence (16-5, 7-3 FC) are 1-2 in their last three games but started conference 6-1 with the lone loss coming at the hands of the Saints, a 78-65 setback in Great Falls.
Stephanie McDonagh leads the Argos with 18.6 PPG, Parker Esary adds 14.5 and Emilee Maldonado averages 10.2 PPG.
The Saints opened Frontier play against MSU-Northern in Havre and dropped the opener 53-42, since the time the two teams have taken an opposite trajectory. The Lights are now 9-12 overall and 1-9 in league.
Peyton Filius and Shiloh McCormick lead Northern with 12.8 PPG while Brandy Lambourne adds 12.6 PPG. Jacy Thompson, who led MSU-Northern in assists and steals, suffered a career-ending injury, delivering a devastating blow to the already struggling Lights.
The Lights can still score at a high level and have played close games against fierce competition.
