GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Carroll College volleyball team swept Dickinson State 25-12, 25-18, 25-18 while notching an attack percentage of .250 and holding Blue Hawks to -.037 attack percentage.
Freshman
Taelyr Krantz tallied 12 kills on a .320 attack percentage, and
Holly Morehouse tallied 11 Kills on a .526 attack percentage.
Rayna Pilgeram tallied 29 assists and a team-high 13 digs. The Saints also tallied 12 team blocks to just two for Dickinson.
The Saints dominated early, building a 9-3 lead in the first set before rolling to the 25-12 lead in the first set.
In the second set, Dickinson State scored first to take their first lead, but the Saints scored three-straight points and didn't trail again in the second set en route to the 25-18 win.
In the third set, Carroll built a 5-2 lead in the third set, but the Blue Hawks came back to take a 12-10 lead before the Saints went on a 7-2 run to build a 17-14 lead and they cruised to a 25-18 win.
"I felt like we put it all together," head coach
Maureen Boyle said. "Our passing was solid, and the energy was the best we've had all year. Rayna made some great decisions setting which led hitters with just blocker against them. We blocked great. Marija did a nice job blocking Holly did good Taelyr, and Marija had some pretty good blocks."
Despite injuries to a pair of key players in
Casey McInerney and
Mallory Arbizzani, the Saints played their best match of the season.
"We had three pretty good days of practice, and it showed up today," Boyle said. "We've got a couple of girls on the sidelines in boots, and we've had some players step up. It was pretty exciting to watch everyone come together."
The Saints move to 6-8 on the year and will play Saturday at 1 p.m. in the final non-conference game of the year against Benedictine-Mesa.
