Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 OMAHA – The Carroll College volleyball team fell to No. 4 Midland 25-17, 25-22, 25-22 before dropping another match to Central Methodist 25-18, 18-25, 25-15, 18-25, 15-11 to close out the weekend at the Bellevue Labor Day Classic in Omaha.
 
The Saints struggled to find consistency hitting the ball. Carroll notched just 31 kills in the first match and added 17 errors for a .104 attack percentage while Midland hit .225 with 50 kills.
 
Brielle Bumgarner continued her strong hitting, notching 10 kills with just one error to lead the Saints in match one. Rayna Pilgeram added 24 assists and Catherine Sloan and Ayla Carpenter both tallied 17 digs.
 
In the second match, the two teams battled back and forth for a five-set classic. The Saints hit .225 while the Eagles hit .229. Carroll held the block advantage with nine team blocks to just three for Central Methodist.
 
In the fifth set, the two teams were tied at 4-4 before Central Methodist went on a 6-1 run to take a 10-5 lead. The Saints were unable to recover.
 
Freshman Taelyr Krantz and senior Casey McInerney tallied a match-high 18 kills. Bumgarner added 12. Pilgeram tallied 50 assists and Casey Berry added 20 digs.
 
The Saints fall to 5-8 on the year. Carroll has one more weekend on non-conference play before opening the Frontier Conference season at home on Sept. 13 against Montana Tech.
