Northwest Stats l Bellevue Stats
BUTTE, Mont. – The Carroll College volleyball team fell to Northwest (Wash.) 23-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-23, before dropping a second match to No. 20 Bellevue 26-16, 25-23, 27-25 to close out the Big Sky Challenge at the Butte Civic Center Saturday night.
Three Carroll racked up double-digit kills, but the Saints also notched 34 hitting errors to just 19 for Northwest in the first match.
Holly Morehouse had 18 kills while
Brielle Bumgarner tallied 14 and
Taelyr Krantz added 13.
Rayna Pilgeram had 43 assists, nine kills and three block assists.
The Match was a battle from the first serve with three of the four sets decided by two points. The Saints won the first, but Northwest battled back and won three straight to earn the win.
The second match was a sweep, but again two of the three sets were two-point wins for Bellevue with the third set going to 27-25.
Morehouse again led the way for the Saints with 11 kills,
Casey McInerney had nine. Pilgeram tallied eight kills and 24 assists. She also added 22 digs.
The Saints notched a .159 attack percentage while Bellevue hit .275.
Carroll falls to 4-5 on the year, but four of the five losses came against ranked teams. The Saints next travel to Omaha for the Bellevue Labor Day tournament. Carroll plays Evangel (Mo.) and Dordt (Iowa) on Friday, Sept. 1. On Saturday, Sept. 2, the Carroll will meet Midland University and Central Methodist.
