KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Carroll College softball couldn't find consistency at the plate and were swept in a doubleheader by Northwest University, falling 5-2 in game one and 6-0 in game two Saturday in Kirkland, Washington.
In game one, Northwest scored in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead, but Carroll answered in the top of the second to knot it at 1-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Eagles broke it open with a three-run inning to go ahead 4-1, Carroll answered with a run in the fifth but couldn't string together enough runs to complete the comeback. Northwest added another run in the bottom of the sixth for the 5-2 win.
In game two, the Saints notched just two hits while the Eagles scored two runs in the second, one in the fourth and three in the sixth to earn the 6-0 win.
Carroll falls to 12-15 overall and 8-10 in Cascade Conference play. Northwest is 12-23 on the year and 6-15 in conference.
Carroll next hosts Cascade second-place Southern Oregon Friday and Saturday in the final home series of the year for the Saints.
