LEWISTON, Idaho – The Carroll College women's basketball team started hot, outscoring No. 4 Lewis-Clark State 14-6 in the first frame but the Warriors controlled the game the rest of the way topped Carroll 69-58 in the regular-season finale Saturday.
The Saints got out early and controlled the first quarter, building an 8-2 lead before closing the quarter up 14-6.
Lewis-Clark would not let the Saints build a cushion. The Warriors went on a 15-4 run to start the second quarter to take a 21-18 lead. Carroll tied the game at 25 with 2:18 left before LCSC rattled off a 6-0 run. Carroll cut the lead to 32-29 at the half.
Lewis-Clark opened the third quarter with a 6-1 run and after trading baskets in the middle of the frame; the Warriors closed the third on a 7-2 run to extend the lead to 51-41 to start the fourth.
The final quarter was back and forth; the Saints cut the lead to 63-56 with 4:04 on the clock but the Warriors closed the game on a 6-2 run to earn the 11-point win.
Carroll was 23-54 (42.6 percent) from the field.
Cassidy Hashley led the Saints with 18 points.
Michaela Dowdy came off of the bench to add 10.
The Warriors were 25-47 (53.2 percent) from the field. Three LCSC players scored in double figures, led by Brittany Tackett with 19.
The Saints finish the season 18-12 on the year, and 8-10 in Frontier Conference play. Carroll finishes the season with the fifth seed in the conference standings and will play at No. 4 seed Montana Tech Tuesday at 7 p.m.
