Taylor Leads the Saints to a 68-60 Win on Senior Night

HELENA, Mont. – Senior night is emotional. Zach Taylor took it in stride. Before the game, he took to the mic to thank the Carroll fans, his coaches, teammates and family. During the game, Taylor dropped the mic on his regular-season career at the PE Center. He scored a game-high 21 points and added five assists and five rebounds to lead the Saints to 68-60 win over MSU-Northern.

The emotions may have played a factor early. The Lights jumped out to a 7-0 lead and led 11-4 with 15:30 left in the first half. The Saints then went on a 12-3 run to take a 16-14 lead with 10:33 on the clock.

Northern answered and tied the game back up at 16. Ryan Imhoff hit a pair of free throws with 9:41 left in the first half to give Carroll a lead that they would not relinquish.

The Saints led 38-26 at the half and built a lead to 46-28 with 16:30 remaining before the Lights battled back. MSU-Northern cut the lead to 63-59 with 1:53 remaining but The Saints closed on a 5-1 run to clinch the eight-point win.

Taylor's night puts him at 1,914 career points with at least three more games to play.

The Saints were 23-45 (51.1 percent) from the field. Imhoff scored 18 points, and Matt Wyman notched 15 to join Taylor in double figures.

Northern had three players in double figures led by center Ryan Reeves who tallied 15. Northern was 21-47 (44.7 percent) from the field.

The Saints have now locked up a bye in the Frontier Conference playoffs.  Carroll can clinch at least a share of the conference title with a win Thursday against Montana Tech in Butte.
