HELENA, Mont. – Hannah Dean scored a double-double with 12 points, and 10 rebounds and the Carroll defense stifled Northwest University en route to a 74-33 win Thursday night at the PE Center.
Carroll had four scorers in double figures and forced the Eagles into 21 turnovers with 17 steals and only seven turnovers. The Saints also outrebounded Northwest 41-21.

Rachelle Sayers said. "We had a long film session today and discussed how we need to get better and what our goals were for tonight, and they responded. It started with a huge buy-in from Hannah and Bailey Pasta. I talked at length with them this morning and on it was going to take for us to become a great team and how important their role was in that and what I needed from them. They were great leaders tonight."
Early going, the game was back and forth battle. The Eagles led 11-10 with 4:37 left in the first quarter, but the Saints went on a 12-0 run over the next five minutes to take complete control of the game.
The Saints extended the lead to 43-17 at halftime with a three-pointer at the buzzer from Pasta. Carroll allowed single-digit points from Northwest in each of the final three quarters, giving up six In the second, nine in the third and seven in the fourth quarter.
The Carroll offense kept the pressure on in the second half, and the Saints cruised to the 41-point win.
Freshman Jaidyn Lyman had an impressive showing, scoring 12 points and three assists with no turnovers and six steals. Pasta tallied 10 points for the Saints, and Oona Harrington had 11 points.
The Saints were 26-64 (40.6 percent) from the field and 7-27 (25.9 percent) from the three-point line. Carroll was an impressive 15-16 (93.8 percent) from the free-throw line.
Kalee Fowler led Northwest with eight points.
The win is the second in two days for the Saints. Carroll is now 3-0 on the year, not including the 62-61 exhibition win over Boise State. The game was also the sixth in 11 days for the Saints, but the team now has nine days until their next game, a road tilt against Westmont (Calif.) in Santa Barbara.
"Our preseason continues to teach us a lot about the team we are and the team that we want to be," Sayers said. "I am excited that the kids can have some much-needed rest before we had to Cali to face two Top-25 teams on their home courts."
