BILLINGS, Mont. – The Carroll College volleyball team's hot streak came to an end at six matches Saturday evening when the Saints fell to Rocky Mountain 25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22 at the Fortin Center to close out the regular season.
The win gives Rocky the second seed in the Frontier Conference tournament and drops the Saints to the third seed.
Rocky Mountain controlled the first set almost from the start, going on a 7-1 run to take control en route to the 25-15 set-one win.
The Saints responded and won a back and forth battle 25-23 to tie the match at 1-1.
The third set was almost point-for-point throughout, but the Battlin' Bears closed the set with a four-set run to earn a 25-20.
In the fourth set, the Bears jumped to an 8-2 lead, but the Saints battled back to tie the game at 19. The two teams again tied at 22 before RMC closed out the set with a three-point run to win 25-22 and close out the 3-1 win.
Carroll closes out the regular-season 15-12 overall and 8-4 in Frontier Conference play. The Saints will open the Frontier Conference Championship Friday against MSU-Northern at the PE center in Helena.
