HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College volleyball team swept Montana Western 25-17, 25-18, 25-21 Friday night on the road in Dillon.
Carroll tallied a .237 attack percentage and forced the Bulldogs into 21 errors to earn the win.
The Saints trailed 2-1 in the first set before going on a 7-1 run and never looking back to roll to the 25-17 win in set one.
The second set was a similar story. The Bulldogs took an early 3-0 advantage, but the Saint rallied to tie the set at 5-5 and took the lead at 10-9 and rolled the rest of the way to win the second set 25-18.
In set three, the Saints never trailed, but let the Bulldogs rally from a nine-point deficit to cut it to 23-21 before scoring the final two points to earn the 25-21 win.
Carroll was led for the second consecutive match by
Rayna Pilgeram who tallied nine kills on 18 attacks with no errors for a .500 attack percentage. She also tallied 29 assists and 12 digs.
Marija Nicksic notched nine kills, and
Holly Morehouse had eight.
Madi Quick had a game-high 16 digs.
Western tallied 31 kills but had 21 errors for a .080 attack percentage.
The Saints are now 10-11 on the year, and 3-3 in Frontier Conference play.
Carroll next travels to play Montana Tech on Oct. 19 in Butte.
