HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College men's soccer team battled for 90 minutes but fell to 10th-ranked Rocky Mountain 1-0 Friday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.
The Bears put on the pressure early but couldn't capitalize on a 12-3 shot advantage in the first half. Goalkeeper
Bernhardt Di Cino made some fantastic saves in the first half to keep the match tied at 0-0.
After the break, the game was a much tighter contest. The Bear s outshot the Saints 6-5, but Carroll had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bears got on the board in the 67th minute when Matthew Thomas dribbled around a Carroll defender and sent the ball near post to put the Bears up 1-0.
Carroll countered and had chances late, but couldn't find the net as the Bears move to 9-1 on the year. The Fighting Saints fall to 5-5 on the year, and 3-4 in Cascade Conference play.
