HELENA, Mont. – The No. 16 Carroll College volleyball team plays a neutral site game against the 23rd-ranked Jamestown University Friday at 5 p.m. at the University of Great Falls.
The Saints are coming off a 4-0 weekend and look to continue a seven-match win streak when they face the Jimmies. Carroll has the reigning Frontier Conference players of the week in
Jonni Dorr,
Natalie Kassa and
Paige Montgomery.
Jamestown enters the weekend with a 5-4 record but has won three of their last four matches.
For the Jimmies, the match is one of four on the weekend, for the Saints it is the only opponent on deck.
"I am anxious to see how we respond after such a big weekend in California," head coach Moe Boyle said. "Sometimes having only one match is hard, you overthink things and over prepare instead of focusing on improving ourselves. We have to work at playing our game more consistently throughout the match that is our focus."
The Saints have already played six opponents that were or currently are ranked in the NAIA Top-25 but for the first time, Carroll will not have the benefit of sliding under the radar.
"We are now ranked and we have a target on our back," Boyle said. "Every team is going to give us their best and we have to respond and adjust."
The match is the first since the Saints met the Jimmies in the 2012 NAIA play-in game at the PE Center. Carroll won the match 3-0 in front of a sellout crowd. The two teams mirror each other in a lot of ways.
"They are similar to us as a program they are always near the top-25 if they aren't in the poll," Boyle said. "Jon is a really good coach and you expect a really good team on the other side of the net."
